Public consultation takes place for Greendykes K&L site
Public consultation recently took place for the latest phase of the Council-led regeneration of Greendykes K&L site, consisting of 130 new affordable homes.
Anderson Bell + Christie architects have been appointed by Urban Union to develop proposals for the Greendykes KLM site on behalf of the City of Edinburgh Council (CoEC).
The proposal includes 140 new dwellings in total comprising:
- 78 homes for for social rent
- 62 homes for mid market rent
All homes regardless of tenure will be built to the same standard and will be ‘tenure blind’ meaning there will be no visual design distinction between
tenures.
In order to meet the needs of a wide range of people, the development had to have:
- At least 20% of the homes will be 3 bedroom or above to cater for mixed family groups.
- 10% of the social rented properties will be provisioned for those who are physically disabled or wheelchair users.
It is proposed all that both houses and flats will have access to high quality private open space.
The proposal also includes limited parking for residents, landscape design proposals, adequate bike storage and bin provision and a Net Zero Energy Strategy.
