Passivhaus standard comparative build

Showing Passivhaus can be economically applied to all housing.

The Scottish Government aimed to cut Carbon emissions by 42% by 2020 with improved home energy efficiency moving towards Passivhaus standard, in line with Northern Europe forms a key part of this.

Significant opportunities exist in Scotland; wider UK and Europe for the Scottish supply chain who are already experienced in developing low-carbon technologies.

By designing, building and testing one house to 'Passivhaus' standard using approved and certified ‘Passivhaus’ products, and a second house (Scottish Passivhaus equivalent) using locally sourced Scottish supply chain building components and materials, this project demonstrated that ‘Passivhaus’ standards can be achieved to provide high quality housing at a competitive cost level using local building component technologies and products.
