Housing & manufacturing

We help you to build quicker, better, and more efficiently at scale using manufacturing and homegrown mass timber.

Better, faster, and more affordable housing.

Projects using modern methods of construction and offsite manufacturing can expect to see more consistent quality, cost confidence, on-time delivery, efficient operations, and seasonal resilience. Manufacturing housing in this way will allow housebuilders and local authorities to scale their construction delivery and, when deployed at scale, create housing that is more affordable.

Our vision is to accelerate the amount of high-quality and affordable housing built through these manufacturing methods.

Mass Timber Centre of Excellence

We have the potential to turn our climate and housing crisis into a unique moment of opportunity. The Mass Timber Centre of Excellence exists to change how we deliver the built environment in Scotland, and beyond, to position the construction industry as a solution to both these crises. By embracing innovative solutions like mass timber, we can unlock generational opportunities that create lasting social, economic, and environmental value.

Leveraging the Centre's unparalleled equipment and expertise, BE-ST provides support for the industry to integrate timber into projects, with access to the UK’s largest mass timber manufacturing facility, for organisations to design and build quicker, higher quality, and more effectively using this sustainable material.

Homegrown mass timber, sustainably supporting the UK economy

By adopting homegrown mass timber in construction at scale, we will strengthen the forestry and timber industry, create jobs, reduce reliance on imports, increase sustainable housing delivery and reduce carbon emissions generated by the construction sector. It can be done – and done well.

We have successfully helped organisations and academia take the next step into offsite or acted as a physical hub for organisations to manufacture mass timber.
